neapolitan casatiello

The Neapolitan casatiello suet and pepper is the protagonist of the Neapolitan culinary tradition during the Easter period, together with the sweet casatiello. It is customary to prepare the sugna e pepe casatiello on Good Friday and then let it rise overnight and bake it the following day, to then consume it both on Holy Saturday and on Easter Monday. The casatiello also has a Christian symbolism, that is, it represents the crown of thorns of the crucifix. In short, preparing the Neapolitan casatiello is a real tradition.
